The Wildreness Inclusive Network (WIN) through AWeSOMe! (Adaptive Wilderness Sports of McCall) expanded it's winter programs to summer programming for individuals with disabilities, including disabled veterans. Disabled participants of all ages will gain new positive perspectives and skills engaging in life changing outdoor activities.
These funds will provide AWeSOMe! the ability to serve additional participants and enhance it's summer programs to include not only kayaking but also golf and multi-day camp experiences. The scholarships will provide (6) adults with physical disabilities to participate in a (3) day, two night trail ride, golf outings for (8) children & (8) disabled veterans and another (8) blind or visually impaired adults to attend a (3) day, two night camp and participate in activities including biking, hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming and camp music events. New and lasting relationships will be formed with the participants, employees of local businesses, parks and resorts changing lives.
The activities and camps will occur during the summer of 2026 (July - September).
Several Rotarians already volunteer with AWeSOMe! for their winter activities and will volunteer to assist in the summer programs. Other Rotarians who enjoy the outdoor recreational experiences will serve alongside staff and volunteers of AWeSOMe! during the mountain biking, golfing and camp experiences. Approximately 10 - 12 Rotarians will be involved.
