Summary: Provide dictionaries to over 700 third graders in Kingman, AZ and surrounding areas.
The Kingman Unified School District identified the need for resources for reading and writing proficiency in our area. Our club (Kingman Route 66 Rotary Club) has been providing these dictionaries to 3rd graders in the Greater Kingman area schools as a result of this identified need. Our delivery area is the greater Kingman area schools, schools on the Hualapai Indian Reservation, several small school districts in rural Mohave County, and local charter schools. We estimate we will deliver about 700 dictionaries this coming school year. Our club has been doing the Dictionary Project for 20 years and this will be our 21st year. We would like to continue this program as there remains a need for improved reading and writing proficiencies. We purchase the "dictionaries" through "The Dictionary Project", put a 4-way test sticker in each book as well as place a Rotary sticker on the cover. We also note that these books are a gift of the Kingman Route 66 Rotary Club. Last year, we also gave the students Rotary pencils which they loved and we will likely do again. Our members go to the schools and personally present the "dictionaries". The Dictionary Project is typically completed in the fall semester of the school year. We will work to do press release once the dictionaries have been deployed. We also put pictures on our club website and Facebook Page.

This project is "Approved". This means that the district leadership has reviewed and approved the allocation of district funds for this project. Once the funds from the district have been issued, the status of the project will be changed to "Paid".
