Summary: The Build-A-Hand Project is a hands-on humanitarian service initiative where volunteers assemble functional prosthetic hands for individuals with upper-limb loss in underserved communities around the world.

The Build-A-Hand Project is a humanitarian and educational initiative that combines hands-on service learning with direct global impact for individuals living with upper-limb loss. Through this project, participants work together to assemble functional prosthetic hands that are distributed to amputees in underserved communities around the world through established nonprofit partnerships.

The project provides a meaningful opportunity for volunteers, students, and community members to engage in collaborative problem-solving while increasing awareness of accessibility challenges faced by individuals with limb differences. Participants not only assemble prosthetic devices, but also learn about the real-world impact these hands have on improving independence, dignity, mobility, and quality of life for recipients.

Funding from this grant will support the purchase of Build-A-Hand kits and related program materials, allowing community volunteers and youth participants to assemble prosthetic hands that will be donated to individuals in need globally. The project also promotes leadership development, teamwork, empathy, and service above self through a highly interactive and purpose-driven experience.

By combining education, humanitarian service, and hands-on engagement, the Build-A-Hand Project creates both immediate and lasting impact. Locally, participants gain a deeper understanding of global accessibility challenges and the importance of community service. Internationally, amputees receive life-changing prosthetic devices that can restore functional daily activities and increase independence.
