Project Description Country: USA Location: California Total Budget: $15,700 Areas of Focus: Maternal and child health, Basic education and literacy, Community economic development, The environment Activity Type: Community Development: General Summary: Five Projects in Southern California supporting Elementary Schools, Disadvantaged Youth, Foster Children, Veterans and Art Education Five (5) Projects - see attached for additional information. 1) Literacy Project: Supporting elementary schools in Laguna Beach by funding educational supplies, library books, and Rotary book labels, with Rotarians also engaging with students through reading time and citizen leadership workshops. 2) Project Foster: Supporting foster youth in Orange County by funding rolling suitcases or duffel bags filled with essentials, including clothing, bedding, stuffed animals, school supplies, books, and hygiene products. 3) Child Creativity Lab: Supporting disadvantaged youth in Orange County by funding STEAM + Creativity Kits made with reclaimed and reusable materials, with Rotarians assembling the kits. 4) Veterans Legal Institute: Supporting services for veterans and service members by funding trauma-informed training for VLI's front-line intake staff and related project supplies. 5) LOCA Arts Education Library Program: Supporting free library art programs facilitated by professional artists, including intergenerational sessions where children and families explore creative ideas through hands-on art media and techniques.
