Summary: Buy books for youth in the Meridian Library District who participate in the Summer Reading Program.
The Meridian Library District (MLD) and the Rotary Club of Meridian have identified the need to support youth through a summer reading program. The goal of the program is to help students in the MLD geographic area maintain literacy skills over the summer and develop a love of reading. Participating youth receive two free age-appropriate books and engage in challenges, prizes, and activities designed to prevent the "summer slide." Meridian Rotary Club will collaborate with the MLD to purchase, apply bookplates, and distribute free books playing a crucial role in building home libraries and supporting childhood literacy and make a lasting impact on the participating youth of Meridian. Custom Rotary bookplates will be placed in the books that are given to the students and are estimated to cost $100.
