Project Overview
The Susitna Rotary Club proposes to enhance a vital community gathering space by purchasing and installing four outdoor double park grills at Little Susitna Rotary Park in Houston, Alaska. The grills will be installed around the perimeter of the pavilion previously constructed by the club, expanding the park's functionality for families, community groups, and visitors.
This project aligns with Rotary's mission of "Service Above Self" by improving quality of life, promoting outdoor activity, and strengthening community connections in an underserved area.

Statement of Community Need
Houston, Alaska is a small, rural community with limited access to free, safe, and accessible recreational amenities. Many local families are low- to moderate-income and lack nearby facilities that support outdoor gatherings and extended family activities.
Little Susitna Rotary Park serves as one of the few developed public spaces in the area. While the park already includes a pavilion, playground, boat launch, and walking trail, it lacks basic infrastructure-such as cooking facilities-that would allow families to fully utilize the space.
The addition of park grills will:
• Enable several families to prepare meals on-site
• Encourage longer and more frequent park use
• Provide a no-cost recreational option
• Reduce the need to travel to neighboring communities
