Rotary Club of Fairbanks members will partner with Fort Wainwright military personnel to erect a Peace Pole as a memorial.
Service members returning from deployment often face significant emotional burdens, including grief, trauma, and the loss of fellow soldiers. These challenges contribute to consistently high suicide rates within the armed forces, highlighting the need for supportive, stigma‑free environments that encourage reflection and healing.
This project proposes the creation of a dedicated reflection and memorial space exclusively for service members. The space will offer a quiet, dignified setting where individuals can honor fallen comrades, process their experiences, and engage in personal contemplation.
