Summary: Provide food, and food/meal preparation supplies and equipment to meet childen's nutrition basic needs
Anchorage Alaska has the most diverse school district in the US. A huge part of this population is at and below poverty levels, leading to major shortfalls of good diet/food and thus, poor educational opportunities and outcomes. Bean's Cafes subordinate activity is Children's Lunchbox, which, with community help, provides over 100,000 meals per year for needy children. This has been our club's primary sponsorship recipient for nearly 15 years, and we will be continuing to do so, this grant would double our support for this Rotary year. Rotary Members will be volunteering for the lunch packing and help with a monthly mobile food pantry that the Anchorage East Club manages also (recent photo attached). Funds cover food supplies and delivery and costs of operations of the certified commercial kitchen. Bean's/Children's Lunchbox do the actual supplies purchases and manage donations from the Food Bank so we don't get receipts. However, Bean's/Children's Lunchbox can provide reporting of expenditures for the final report at the end Rotary's 2026-2027 grant year.
