Millions of girls and young women worldwide still cannot afford menstrual products or access to water and sanitation facilities to manage their menstrual health and hygiene. As a result menstruating girls and young women are not able to attend school for one week a month during their periods.
Working with the Rotary Club of Kitante, the Rotary Club of Kayunga and the Precious Kids Foundation we will purchase materials, rent a location, offer transportation to and from training, provide a simple meal to the participants and have trainers to come and teach the participants about women's hygiene and to pay the trainer's transportation fees.
We would like to have this training on Saturday, 28 March 2026
The main objective of this project is to:
1. Initiate a lasting skills training of reusable sanitary pads and other dignity feminine hygiene products for girls and women.
2. Increase access to reusable sanitary pads to girls and young women, especially in Uganda's rural community of Kayunga.
3. Nurture and promote the self-esteem of girls and young women by combatting stigmas concerning monthly menstrual cycles, thereby helping not only girls and young women, but also numerous community members, such as supportive young me, who will be educated and sensitized to this normal and naturally occurring monthly cycle and the importance of menstrual hygiene.
