Project Description Country: USA/Kenya Location: Marsabit Total Budget: $2,000 Area of Focus: Water, sanitation and hygiene Activity Type: Water: Supply/Access Summary: Rainwater harvesting, storage and conduct hydrological survey to determine ground water availability. This is a collaboration grant between RC El Cajon Sunset, RC El Cajon and Water for Children Africa Inc. (East County, 5O1c3 Nonprofit Organization). This grant will donate $2000 to Water for Children Africa Inc. a San Diego East County nonprofit organization to support their water provision efforts in northern Kenya. The funds will be used to purchase large water storage tank, set up rain harvesting system for the community and conduct needs assessments of hydrological surveys to locate ground water aquifers in the region for potential future borehole drilling. Availability of water to the community would have a profound impact on health, peace, education, environment and food security.
