Project Description Country: USA Location: Carlsbad Total Budget: $6,000 Areas of Focus: Basic education and literacy, Community economic development Activity Type: Education: Scholarship Summary: We raise money to fund scholarships for high school seniors in Carlsbad. We have A very committed team of Club members who raise funds through a scholarship raffle, solicit applications through high school counselors, interview, and choose our scholarship recepients. We have given scholarships for many, many years. This project has been very successful. Over the last three years since we added the raffle. The raffle has helped us to greatly expand our reach. This project has grown a lot since we started. We believe this project is extremely beneficial, as we directly help many amazing students in their pursuits of educational and vocational goals. We are very happy to reward their hard work and help some who wouldn't be able to afford further educations. We have also found it is a great way to engage the community, build good-will and publicize the work of Rotary. It is also a wonderful introduction to Rotary for the students we connect with. The application asks what they know about Rotary, and they all find out, wither on their own, or we tell them!
