Summary: K-12 students from local districts benefit from production field trips, followed by literacy curriculum for teachers to implement in the classroom.
Theater Works provides programming for youth year-round. Subsidized field trips expand the theater's outreach into the community and enhance the educational curriculum in the classroom. To strengthen students' literary skills, teachers participating in field trips to the Theater Work's site receive a copy of the literature presented and a study guide of lesson plans related to the story and play. The lessons are specifically designed to meet AZ Academic Standards in Arts - Theater and English Language Arts.
This project will run through the 2025-2026 school year. The funds will be used for transportation and curriculum materials.
Rotary members will assist Theater Works on the days of student field trips and also volunteer as ushers at matinee and evening performances for A Christmas Carol in December.
