A description of this Scholastic Partnership Program is

We are looking to order 900 - 1000 children's books to be distributed to the 2nd graders in the Twin Falls School District. Enrollment totals vary each year but on average around 850 students which includes the charter Schools. The books will vary in content but will be directed by the recommendation of Scholastic Books in that category and Rotarian Sharon Dowdle who was a librarian at schools in her career. The book collections range in price from $2.50 - 3.50 per book, depending on the title. Shipping is Free, and additional books can be included based on the amount we spend.

Rotarians will sticker the books with our logo and Four-way test and plan a reading of a story prior to distribution. Our goal is to set up to meet with 2nd grade teachers and spend around a ½ hour to read one of the books and then afterwards distribute the books to the students giving them a variety of books to choose from. With the number of schools, 12 to 18 Rotarians will be able to enjoy the interaction with the students by reading to them. We will attempt to find the best time to meet with the students. And plan distribution between October through February.

The project replaces the dictionary project that we have been doing since 2010 but felt this would be more effective and have more impact on youth. Students get to take home there book that day and share with friends and family. Any leftover books would be handed out when performing Public Relations, such as Walk in the Park held in the fall bu the TF Library.

There was an error in the recent notification that the District's block grant has been approved by The Rotary Foundation. The date should have been July 15, 2025. When reporting your grant upon project completion, your receipts will need to show expenses incurred after that date. Thank you for participating in TRF grants!

Approximately 1,100 picture books were purchased in October through the Scholastic Literacy Program. In November, members held a sticker party at Gem State Paper & Supply to apply four Rotary stickers to each book. After surveying all second‑grade teachers, April was selected as the ideal delivery month. Teachers have expressed strong enthusiasm, gratitude, and excitement for the project.
