Project Description Country: USA Location: Chandler, Arizona Total Budget: $5,000 Area of Focus: None Activity Type: Education: Scholarship Summary: Chandler Rotary college/vocational scholarships. $1,000 scholarships awarded to five Chandler Unified School District students during the 2025-2026 school year. Over the 2025-2026 school year between July 2025 and May 2026 the Rotary Club of Chandler will award 5 Scholarships to 5 seniors from The Chandler Unified School District to attend the college or university or vocational program that has accepted their application for 3 years of their graduation from High School. The Rotary Club of Chandler Sponsors two major events to promote community engagement, spirit and to raise funds for community service. The first event is the "Battle for Arizona Avenue" luncheon which showcases and brings together two rival Chandler Unified School District football programs for a luncheon to highlight the schools and athletes. The football coaches from each school select a scholarship recipient who exemplifies the Rotary values, Four Way Test, and Motto. The second event is the Chandler Rotary Invitational Track Meet which brings together 1,500 elite track athletes from over 130 schools in the Western United States to participate in a signature 2 day event held at Chandler High School. The Rotary Club of Chandler has sponsored this track meet for 85 years. The Rotary club raises funds from this event for community service. The club also awards two scholarships to track athletes from Chandler High School who are selected by the Chandler High School Coaching staff. The criteria for the scholarship is for students who exemplify the Rotary values, Four Way Test, and Motto. The Rotary Club of Chandler also awards the Lt Col Gary Jones Leadership Scholarship to the senior Junior ROTC cadet at Chandler High School who displays outstanding leadership along with Rotary values of Service Above Self. 1 Scholarship for a Chandler High School male track athlete 1 Scholarship for a Chandler High School female track athlete 1 Scholarship for a Hamilton High School football athlete 1 Scholarship for a Chandler High School football athlete 1 Scholarship for a Chandler High School Junior ROTC cadet The Rotary Club of Chandler will work with Chandler Education Foundation to administer these scholarships.
