Project Description

Country: USA

Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy

Summary: Provide twelve bicycles and safety helmets to Elementary school children that read the most during the school breaks to three Elementary Schools and our Local Library's Reading Progran in Powell, Park County, Wyoming..

Working with Powell School District's Principles, local Elementary teachers and our library director to promote childrens reading for students grades one through five, we came up with a Rotary Club of Powell Reading for Bikes Challenge. The challenge is to promote children to read more every day while not in school. They must read at least thirty minutes each day to qualify for the challenge. The matching grant will be used to purchase twelve bicycles and safety helmets. The students selected by each school will be awarded a bicycle. The Rotary club members will purchase the bikes and helmets and be part of the awards presentations at each school and library.
