Project Title: Warmth and Safety for Gig Workers

Organized by: Rotaract club of Aspire New York

As winter approaches, gig workers such as delivery drivers and ride-share operators face significant challenges. Many of them work outdoors in harsh conditions, which can lead to health issues from prolonged exposure to cold weather. Additionally, ongoing concerns about respiratory illnesses make masks essential for their safety. There is a pressing need for affordable winter gear to support these essential workers in our community.

Project Goals: Our project aims to provide over 100 gig workers with warm gloves and protective scarf masks, ensuring they can perform their jobs safely and comfortably during the winter months.

How the Project Will Meet These Needs:

Distribution of Gear:

We will procure high-quality, insulated gloves and scarf masks designed for outdoor work. By distributing these items, we aim to enhance the safety and well-being of gig workers this winter.

Community Awareness:

We will engage the community in recognizing the importance of gig workers and the challenges they face, fostering a sense of solidarity and support.

Timeline:

Week 1-2: Launch fundraising campaign to gather resources through Rotary and community engagement.

Week 3: Finalize partnerships with suppliers for gloves and masks.

Week 4: Place orders and prepare for distribution.

Week 5: Distribute gloves and masks to identified gig workers.

Week 6: Collect feedback from recipients and report on the project's impact.

Budget Overview:

Gloves: $1,000

Scarf Masks: $300

Marketing Materials (flyers, others): $100

Miscellaneous Expenses: $100

Total Needed: $1,500

Club Member Involvement:

Fundraising Committee: Members will organize and promote fundraising events and online campaigns, engaging Rotary and the wider community.

Procurement Team: Volunteers will assist in researching suppliers and securing the best prices for quality gear.

Distribution Volunteers: Club members will help distribute the items directly to gig workers in designated areas, ensuring a personal touch and fostering connections within the community.

Impact Assessment Team: Members will gather feedback from recipients and compile reports on the project's success, showcasing the impact made through Rotary support.

Together, we can ensure that gig workers feel appreciated and equipped to tackle the winter challenges ahead. Your support through Rotary is crucial in making this project a reality! Thank you for considering our initiative.
