Oceanic pollution causes damage to the environment, human health and our economies. For the last 3 years, The Walter Munk Foundation in partnership with the Mt Soledad National Veterans Association, have brought students from underserved communities in the region, on field trips to learn how waste products from the top of a mountain can end up polluting our Oceans.
From MT Soledad, the students are taken to La Jolla Shores and the Walter Munk Exhibit to further learn of the importance of keeping our oceans clean as well the topography of the area and how to use navigational instruments. Part of their trip is also devoted to the role the Kumeyaah had in the area.
It is our intention to oversee, fund, and distribute the production of the Rotary branded booklets which will capture the highlights of the trip allowing the students to further study and lead discussion groups in their schools
