Summary: Releasing some of the trauma refugee Ukrainian children are feeling through field trips to fun venues.
|
The Del Mar Solana Beach Rotary Club has assisted Ukrainian refugee families arriving in San Diego. Previous assistance has been in the areas of job searching and temporary housing. The Club members have recognized that the children of these refugee families arrived traumatized from experiencing the war in Ukraine. How can the Club members help these children? It was identified to take them on fun activities to such places as Legoland, SeaWorld, Disneyland, San Diego Zoo, and San Deigo Safari Park. It is anticipated that these activities may positively impact the trauma they are experiencing by reducing these feelings. Each of these trips will have a participating Club member. The funds for the project will be used for fees for admittance to these venues, purchasing food at the location, and transportation costs. The project should last approximately two to three months.
