Community Development: Construction/Renovation
Summary: Signage and Minor Construction Renovation of the Rose Garden at Mesa Community College
The Rose Garden at Mesa Community College was established in 1997 in partnership between Mesa Community College and the Mesa-East Valley Rose Society. Through the efforts of countless volunteers and generous contributors, the garden has become the largest Rosarium in the Southwest and a landmark that celebrates roses as the National Floral emblem of the United States, a symbol of "Love, Friendship, Beauty, and Peace".
Unfortunately, due to Community College budget cuts the garden signage, park benches, veteran's salute area and walkways have fallen into disrepair. Our Rotary Clubs in Tempe and Mesa wish to come in and upgrade the signage, sponsorship panels and the kiosk structure while having the Rotary emblem prominently displayed on the signs and facilities.
The project is expected to cost $5000 and 40 team hours to bring the Rosarium back to full bloom. The project is a joint project with the Tempe South Rotary club and other Rotarians from Mesa.
The intent of our Tempe South District Rotary Grant is to help the rose garden maintain its landmark presence while celebrating roses as a symbol of "Love, Friendship, Beauty, and Peace" in the East Valley of Phoenix.
In summary, Tempe South Rotary Club will partner with the Mesa Community College and the Rose Society to work with the team to help them regain their natural beauty and cultural allure.
The project will start in October of 2024 and be completed with a ribbon cutting ceremony in February 2025.

Congratulations! This project has been approved for full funding. We are not certain when the money will hit your account, but our best guess is a month or so. The district has approved the project now Rotary International will review and approve. We’ll send you an update when we have one. Please also remember that you may not spend money prior to TRF approval and reimburse yourself from grant funds. If there have been changes in your bank account (information for electronic transfer), please get that to Lucinda General (District Treasurer) as soon as possible. treasurer@rotary5495.org. Your report is due April 30, 2025, and receipts are required to complete the report (not invoices, cancelled checks, UPS shipping labels, or any other documents). Thank you for creating hope in the world.
