Orange County, California, has approximately 3,400 children in the foster care system. These children often lack essential items such as clothes, toys, and hygiene products. Our project, "A Case for Kids," aims to address this gap by providing filled suitcases to foster children in need.
The primary goal of our project is to ensure that at least 1,000 foster children in Orange County receive a suitcase filled with necessary items. Each suitcase will contain clothes, underwear, games, books, sheets, and hygiene articles. The project will be conducted from the CEO's garage in Coto de Caza, where we will organize and pack the suitcases.
The project will be completed over the course of one month, encompassing two main phases. The first week will be dedicated to purchasing all necessary materials, including clothes, toys, books, bedding, and hygiene products. The remaining three weeks will involve multiple workdays where volunteers will fill the suitcases according to the age, gender, and size requirements of the recipients.
Project funds will be allocated for purchasing the supplies. This includes clothes and underwear, toys and games, books, bedding (sheets), and hygiene products. Ensuring that each suitcase is appropriately stocked with these essential items will provide foster children with the support and comfort they need.
Club members will play a crucial role in this project. Their responsibilities will include sorting and categorizing the items based on the children's needs, filling the suitcases with the appropriate items, and ensuring that each suitcase meets the specific requirements of the recipient children. By engaging club members in these activities, we will foster a sense of community and direct involvement in making a positive impact on the lives of foster children in Orange County.
