Summary: We are working to bring 32 homes in the remote village of Kithaga clean water using rain water harvesting and filtration, with clean water storage, handwash stations, and water and sanitation education.
The village of Kithaga has no access to water locally. The village women are walking a great distance every day to get water for their families. This is taking a toll on their health, families and finances. The community of Kithaga approached us and asked for the clean water that we have been doing in schools in their area. Our local partners have ensured that the local leaders and community want the project, understand the importance, and are fully supportive of the project. They have already visited each home, and done individual home assessments. The homeowners understand their obligations, and are excited to receive the help! The villagers have agreed that they will share water amongst themselves, so that whoever gets water first will share with those who haven't yet received it. We have already funded 8 homes and are working on more now. Each home costs $812 on average, with some factors changing that just a bit. We will provide for each home: 5,000 liters of water storage, gutters, microfilter, clean water storage with spout, handwash station, washable sanitary pads, and education on water, sanitation and hygiene. The homeowners are expected to supply installation labor, fascia boards and any needed Sand and rock for the cement base. We will visit the village periodically to make sure the systems are still functioning properly, and do follow-up education and assessments. We plan to visit for at least 2 years. Each time we visit we will do an educational session.
Paid
This project is "Paid". This means that the funds from the district have been issued. This project is now being ready for implementation. When this is done, a report needs to be uploaded on the project page and the "Reported" button needs to be clicked, then the status of the project will be changed to "Reported".
Your 24 -25 club President still needs to send in the club qualification answers. Once we receive those we will send the MOU which also needs to be signed and sent back to us.
They also need to enter your club Foundation goal into Rotary Club Central.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Kerri,
I apologize for the delay in paying your grant. For the first time we received more grant requests than DDF was available. We cannot request the DDF till the report balances. To make that happen we have decided to cut the DDF from every grant. Your DDF request of $4000 will be reduced to $3,600.
If you have any questions please let me know.
