Summary: Supporting Afghan's Education will provide funds for teacher's salaries in public high schools in Jalalabad, Afghanistan
Afghan Youth Connect (AYC) is a program organized and overseen by the La Jolla Golden Triangle Rotary Club (the club) commencing in 2008. Presently it operates in 13 public high schools on a gender segregated basis for high school age girls and boys. The classes are fund in internet connected computer labs, one computer per student. Subjects taught include learning basic computer skills, English as a second language, social responsibilities, leadership training, public health etc. Following the fall of the Afghan government in 2021 AYC was able to restart in Feb. 2022 with the full support of the local Government authorities. However, they have asked that we not publicize the fact that they are allowing AYC to continue. This has made it difficult to secure funding to support the teacher's salaries. The club also sponsors a females sports program known and the Jalalabad Female Sports Association for high school females. This program also needs funding to support its female trainer.
