Education: General
Summary: Provide safety reflectors to elementary school children and vulnerable communitry members.
Elementary students in Fairbanks, Alaska must go to and from school during our dark winter months. Years ago, the PTA's of many schools would sew reflective tape to students' jackets. That practice has ended.
When we delivered safety reflectors to 11 schools last winter, the school staff was delighted. It was a part of student safety that was not being addressed. We propose distributing safety reflectors to the remaining 10 elementary schools in Fairbanks. Our reflectors can easily be clipped to a zipper or backpack. Whether walking to school or walking to the bus, students need something reflective for drivers to see in the streets narrowed by snow berms.
