Summary: Park Benches for parents to encourage outdoor activity
There are several parks in Palmer that do not have any place for parents to sit to watch their children play. In particular there is the Pump Park, and McKechnie Park. We would like to purchase and install up to 2 park benches for up to 2 different parks in Palmer to help improve the parks and make them more attractive to parents and to increase the health of the children who will get to enjoy the parks more if parents can sit down to watch their children play. I have corresponded with the city of Palmer and they have given us the green light and even discussed it at a Parks and Rec Board meeting. They only ask that we use sturdy materials for the benches. The funds would be used to obtain 1-2 park benches with the Rotary logo on the back rest. The Rotary members would be needed to help select, obtain, and install the park benches for the parks and possibly installing a concrete base so the benches would not be moved or stolen. I believe this project could be completed by early October 2024.

We got quotes from a local company to make the benches and the lead time needed. I got instruction from the City of Palmer where they would appreciate benches to be placed.
