Project Description Country: Kenya Location: Machakos County Total Budget: $1,500 Area of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment Activity Type: Health: Disease Summary: NON-COMMUNICABLE DISEASES OUT-REACH PROJECT This grant will fund continuing education and outreach programs in the community as a preventive measure for non-communicable diseases through Paul Mue Foundation and Manee Foundation, Kenya government approved non-governmental organizations (NGO). Machakos hospital serves lower Eastern Kenya region with population of over 3 million. Current Hospital data shows increased prevalence of non-communicable deceases (NCDs) such as diabetes, high blood pressure, sicknesses associated with aflatoxins, mental health wellness and preventable cancer. Manee Foundation, Paul Mue Foundation in corroboration county department of health services will conduct community-based education to address NCD's. 3,000 people will be direct beneficiaries while 15,000 will be indirect beneficiaries.
