Activity Type:
Community Development: Volunteer Services
Summary: We would like to help build a sturdy home for a needy family in Tijuana, Mexico.
The primary goal of Project Mercy, a non-profit San Diego agency, is to help improve the basic living standards and quality of life for destitute families in the colonias east of Tijuana, Mexico. Recognizing the extreme need to alleviate the health hazards incurred by poor makeshift housing, they have organized a means, with the financial and hands-on help of organizations like Rotary, to address this basic need by building homes for designated, needy families.
The Rotary Club of Fallbrook has proudly participated in this endeavor for several years and the moment we complete the home and hand over the keys to a very grateful family, we reiterate our commitment and enthusiasm to do it again. This year, we will be building the home on October 14, 2023.
The total cost of the building material, and an outhouse is $7,000. The Rotary Club of Fallbrook has pledged $2,250 with a DDF match of $2,250 and the Rotary Club of Old Misson has pledged $2,500.
This is an opportunity for fellow Rotarians, future Rotarians, families of all sizes and ages to come together for one day and truly live the motto of "Service Above Self".
