Summary: Conversion of empty room into Childcare Room at Friendly Center in Orange, California to help parents going through social programs
Friendly Center provides support programs and supplemental education to families and individuals that are less fortunate and under-served in Orange and surrounding communities. One of their family resource centers located on Rose St. in Orange is in need of refurbishing as a Childcare Room. Such room would be used to case for children of adults that are participating in support programs offered by Friendly Center at their Rose St. family resource center. Presently, the children of those adults are cared for in the very room that the programs are being presented, which causes unneeded distractions for the parents who are trying to benefit from the programs. The proposed Childcare Room would be adjacent the room in which programs are being provided, so the children would not be far from the parents. The district grant would provide much needed funds to convert an empty room into the Childcare room during the Fall of 2023 by acquiring and delivering tables, chairs, rugs, decor, furniture for organizing childcare services, and toys to occupy the children. Rotarians would assist in acquiring the items and delivering and placing the items in the room.
