Summary: Provide a HVAC and related environmental infrastructure for a NICU in Ghana.
The University Hospital in Accra Legon, Ghana is constructing a NICU to help reduce the number of deaths of infants needing intensive care in the region. We are partnering with the University Hospital and the Accra Legon East Rotary Club. Grant funds will be used to furnish an HVAC system and related environmental infrastructure to support the NICU wing. The timeline for installation is August 2023. Six Rotarians from the Pocatello Club have been meeting regularly for several months, via Zoom, providing assistance, consulting. In April the Accra Legon East Rotary Club hosted a 'virtual visit' and tour of the hospital. Club President Nana Hemaa was the presenter and involved all our club members. One of our club members has visited the hospital site on two separate occasions to inspect the Hospital and the NICU construction. He has personally met in Ghana with Rotary committee members, medical staff and contractors. He has seen the tiny babies who require NICU services. A number of Rotarians from Idaho have been invited to attend the dedication of the NICU which should take place in in September or October.

Please do not reply to this email. You should have received your grant by now, mailed to your club’s mailing address Aug. 11. We are using a bill payer service this year, and the envelope will look different than in the past. Please tell your treasurer to watch for it, and not to discard. Please call me if you don’t have your check (208) 308-5617. Ignore the physical address on the check – D5400 is still PO Box 9592, Boise, ID 83707.
