Activity Type:
Community Development: Volunteer Services
Summary: Provide needed supplies to CASA for kids and advocates
The Magic Valley District CASA assists children in the Foster system. Among their responsibilities they help children in the system with so much more then just being their advocate. This year our club has committed to helping them with items needed for the kids. These items include school supplies, hygiene items, pillows, gas cards, gift cards for treats and meals, pajamas and clothing. Children of all ages can be subjected to being in the foster care system, many drive and need help getting gas in their car to get to work or school, many come in with no more than the cloths on their back when they leave their homes. The volunteers that advocate for the children have no means really to help them in their journey. Our club plans to provide many of the needed items, will put together back packs with school supplies, hygiene items, a toy to call their own, and a few clothing items. Each backpack will be age based and supplied accordingly. We will purchase the items needed for the packs as well as run a drive to raise awareness within the community about Rotary, our Club and CASA. We will provide the volunteers with gas gift cards to supply to children that need them, we will get gift cards from local restaurants and stores, so the volunteers can take the children for a treat that will help build the trust relationship with them.
