Summary: The Children's Lunchbox Pantry Pack Program focusing on feeding children and families who are facing hunger and food-insecurity.
The program currently distributes 1500 pantry packs a week, to 22 food sites. This is equal to 6000 meals a week provided to food insecure children and families in Anchorage. This program is NOT federally, or State funded and requires the generosity of donors to move forward and grow. Each pantry pack is a non-perishable box of food containing enough food to provide a meal for a family of four (4). They are given out in multiples- and in a quantity enough to feed larger families.
Club members will participate in at least two events in the upcoming year, a food drive for items to be included in packs, as well as pantry pack assembly. At any given time, the need is to have 10,000 panty packs assembled for immediate distribution. Each pantry pack costs the organization approximately $10. The $10,000 total project budget seeks to provide support for 1000 pantry packs.
