This is a District 6450 community-based service project that emphasizes gender equity and empowers girls.
District Rotarians are working with Reflections Foundation to plan 3 Polished Pebbles Girls Mentoring career day/reality fair days in January, February and March. The events will either be at a hall or one of the schools that Polished Pebbles works with. We may need to pay the host sites and will need to pay for food for the girls. We will be seeking Rotarians to set up booths to talk to the girls about careers and also to volunteer for the reality fair. We are meeting each week to work on the details.
Addendum to Project Description (added after the project was signed)
Due to timing and space issues, we had to pivot to sponsor their Saturday Sessions series for mentoring. The program happens on the Southside and now the Westside. We were able to sponsor the kickoff event on the Westside. The May event was a Mother Daughter Brunch. The series focuses on junior high girls and covers topics of education, self help and life skills.
