Summary: Awards program to encourage elementary school students at Central Elementary School to improve their reading skills
During the recent pandemic the student reading skills have declined. In order to create incentives for students to participate in reading skills improvement programs, the Lewisville Morning Rotary Club is providing an awards program. At the end of the school year, one boy and one girl in each grade level (K through 5) will receive a new bike. In addition, the 5 top students in each classroom as determined by their teachers, will receive a "goody bag" filled with a book, a bookmark, small trinkets and candies in a formal recognition program at the end of the school year.
Students winning the bikes will be chosen by teachers at each grade level. Criteria to be established by the teachers but will focus on those students who worked the hardest in the reading programs and showed the greatest improvement in reading skills
