The District 6450 Community Service Committee is hosting a bed build for Sleep in Heavenly Peace in Tinley Park on June 18 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Sleep in Heavenly Peace or SHP as it is often abbreviated is a 501 C3 nonprofit organization made up 100% of volunteers. Every penny they raise goes directly towards the expenses needed to build more beds for children in need ages 3-17. They service victims of fire, flooding, domestic abuse relocation, financial struggles and many more. SHP will purchase supplies to build beds, along with the hardware and bedding to complete the beds. Rotarians will volunteer to do tasks such as sanding, assembly and staining. The beds are set up in 4 pieces, and the final put together is done at the recipients home. Funds will be used for the lumber needed to build the beds. There is no experience needed to step in and help their core volunteers during a community Bed Build event.
This is part of the District-wide Empower Girls Initiative.
