Area of Focus: None

Activity Type: Education: General

Summary: Purchase equipment and find advisors for a fabrication shop at Walt Clark Middle School

The Thompson School District in Loveland has recently constructed a Career Center along with a new alternative high school that provides training for jobs right out of high school. Walt Clark middle school has many students that continue on into the alternative high school and is partnering with them to prepare their students to hit the ground running when they enter the manufacturing and design pathway. With this project, Walt Clark will be able to purchase equipment that will allow students to create prototypes and finished products and learn how to use graphic design applications to produce laser engraved and 3D printed designs. The Rotary club of Loveland fund the initial equipment needed to get this shop going and will also provide consulting to help set up the shop and then will help find mentors to help the students with their projects.

We are still working with facilities on the reconfiguration of the space. Our district facilities people met with the architect Thursday or Friday and we are supposed to have a meeting this week that includes our new CTE manager. . . . it is all the regulations that the district has to follow for certain equipment that is holding us up.
