Project Description Country: USA Location: Gillette, Wyoming Total Budget: $1,500 Area of Focus: Maternal and child health Activity Type: Health: General Summary: Provide winter gear including boots, hats and gloves for school students in need in Gillette, Wyoming. Gillette Energy Rotary members would like to continue our "Boots for Kids" GOVERNOR'S GRANT project for another year, but adding "winter gear" of hats and gloves to the requests. Gillette Energy Rotary's Community Projects board member works with the Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent of Campbell County School District to coordinate with our 13 elementary schools, two junior high schools and three high school's counselors to determine need. Students simply let the counselors know that they need winter gear and we try to accommodate all requests. Gillette Energy Rotary members will pick up the items from Wyoming Work Warehouse and deliver them to the schools. All items will go to any needy student in the district. To date, Wyoming Work Warehouse indicates that 33 pairs of winter boots have been purchased. Average cost per pair $35. The boots have been delivered to over eight elementary schools in Gillette.
