Summary: Rotarians will help build a home for a family in need in a newly developing area of eastern Tijuana, Mexico
The Rotary Club of Chula Vista has worked in collaboration with Project Mercy for approximately 15 years. We have built homes in some of the poorest areas of eastern Tijuana in each of those years. It is a profoundly moving experience for everyone involved and life-changing for the family that receives the home and a new start. The simple wooden structure addresses many basic needs: shelter, security, health, alleviates extreme poverty and helps build a sense of community, promoting goodwill and peace.
We plan to build another home in eastern Tijuana in cooperation with Project Mercy, this Rotary year. Due to rising costs, the total cost of the building materials and outhouse is $7,500.
The Rotary Club of Chula Vista has pledged $4500 for the home build. The District grant would help our Club continue this deeply humanitarian undertaking. We are requesting $3000 in DDF funds to meet the cost of the project.
