The Samburu Girls Foundation, (SGF) is a Kenyan non-profit whose primary work is to rescue girls from child-marriage, beading, and FGM. Over 1183 girls have been rescued and 326 are currently being sponsored in schools around the country. They save lives by advocating against harmful cultural practices and building futures for the girls by getting them in school. After rescuing the girls, they give them a safe place to live and counseling, then focus on education, and also community outreach to educate the community of these harmful cultural practices.
Annual costs are below. We will sponsor one girl for the first year:
$50 provides personal items for a semester
$85 feeds a girl for a month
$100 buys a full school uniform with school shoes
$150 pays for medical insurance for a girl for a year
$600 pays Tuition for a whole year
$1,500 sponsors a girl for a year
$2,500 supports holiday camp for girls
This project will fund two girls' scholarship for one year.
