Project Description Country: Mexico Location: Tecate, B.C. Total Budget: $6,000 Area of Focus: Maternal and child health Activity Type: Health: Disease Summary: Children afflicted with Facial Cleft disorders rarely have access to medical surgical resources in Mexico. Instruments will be purchased to replace broken and damaged instrumentation at the clinical hospital. The Rotary Club of Tecate has identified many children from Northern Sonora and Baja California Mexico that suffer with the stigmata of facial cleft lip and palate deformities. Their Rotary-Smiles partnership clinic at Cerro Azul has surgical mission clinics twice per year that operate these children free of charge and instrumentation has been worn and sometimes damaged during sterilization and usage requiring updating and replacement. This DMG will go towards purchase of instruments to serve this purpose and will represent a joint International Service project for both Rotary Districts 5340 and 4100 through the partnership with Rotary Club of Carlsbad and the Rotary Club of Tecate.
