Project Description Country: USA Location: Placentia Total Budget: $2,000 Area of Focus: None Activity Type: Health: Volunteer Services Summary: Bags for homeless w/personal items to provide care and concern and to preserve their dignity in Placentia, CA. "Love Our Cities" started in Modesto, CA in 2009 and currently there are over 90 partnering cities. The City of Placentia started Love Placentia in 2015. The leaders of the program work hand-in-hand with local governments, the school district, neighborhoods, media, businesses, non-profits to make this truly a city-wide effort. The focus on doing things WITH the city has opened relationships w/key people in departments that we might not have had access to previously & provides us with amazing outreach opportunities. Each 1 gal. resealable plastic bag includes: bottle of hand sanitizer, package of personal tissues, lip balm w/sunscreen, bottle of water, new pair of socks, a one-day pass for OCTA and a personal hand written note of encouragement. This will allow us to provide care and dignity to the homeless in our community. Club members will purchase items, assemble the items in the bags & distribute to those in need. The items will be purchased and assembled by Rotary Club Members as well as many local residents. The city wide event, Love Placentia, is held in April and the bags are distributed the following week.
