Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Payson

Total Budget: $3,750

Areas of Focus: Peacebuilding and conflict prevention, Basic education and literacy, Community economic development

Activity Type: Education: General

Summary: Provide Touchscreen Chromebooks to first grade class to enhance learning of letters and numbers while increasing dexterity.

The Payson School district has learned through the pandemic that the use of touchscreen chromebooks by beginning primary students enhances their ability to learn their letters and numbers at a quicker speed and directly impacts the student's ability to increase their limited dexterity in using a keyboard which improves the student's ability to learn no matter what the circumstances with limited resources in small communities like Payson. Last year Rotary helped the program get started at the kindergarten level and would like to continue the same program at the first grade level. According to School Superintendent these chromebooks are critical to developing these lifelong skills at an early age in a community with limited resources like Payson and for families that normally do not have access to such equipment for faster learning. This program will enhance the learning objectives of young students and will follow them through their entire coursework over the next twelve years in the Payson school district.

I'm so sorry for the inconvenience, but (though the "block" district grant has been approved) The Rotary Foundation has not yet released the funds. It's frustrating when things like this are out of our hands, but we hope to be sending money to the clubs very soon. Thanks for your patience.
