Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Fountain Hills

Total Budget: $7,500

Area of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment

Activity Type: Food/Agriculture: Volunteer Services

Summary: T:he EHFB project purchases and delivers requested 'grocery list' food items, primarily protein, throughout the year.

This food bank serves individuals with food insecurities in the East Valley of the Phoenix Metropolitan area, more than 1000 individuals each month. Numerous church and civic organizations donate food as well but what we've identified is that there always seems to be a shortage of healthy protein. So what we've done is engage Ann Speer, 'back room' volunteer supervisor who oversees the receiving/storage of donated foods and the packing of food bags/boxes for their clients. Ann always knows what they have in abundance and what is needed and prepares the 'protein grocery list' so that we can go shopping. Club member involvement has primarily been on raising the money to buy the food by volunteering for the golf fundraiser, selling pretzels, soda and beer at Octoberfest and the reverse raffle.

I'm so sorry for the inconvenience, but (though the "block" district grant has been approved) The Rotary Foundation has not yet released the funds. It's frustrating when things like this are out of our hands, but we hope to be sending money to the clubs very soon. Thanks for your patience.

Since September 2021, Four Peaks Rotary has purchased and delivered approximately $3700 in food items to the Extended Hands Food Bank...We get a list of food items from the 'back room' manager that the food bank needs every couple of months, buy it and deliver it.

Thank you for uploading receipts. I've had a little trouble adding up the amounts as the PDFs are a bit chaotic and upside-down, but I come up with just over $4900, which is less than your budget. Please upload the remainder of the receipts.

Also, you'll need to complete the report form found on the foundation page of the district website, sign, and upload that to the documents page as well. Thanks.
