Summary: Provide scholarships to help needy students obtain medical training to assist in hospital environments.


The Paradise Valley Rotary will provide $5,000 in scholarships, through Gateway Community College, to assist students with their education for entry level medical careers. The areas of study include: EMT, health unit coordinator, EEG, polysomnography, and surgical technology. Area hospital patients will be the ultimate beneficiaries of these medical student's expertise. The project will begin with the July 1, 2021 Rotary year and end with the award of the scholarships. 5 - 10 Rotary members will interview and evaluate the potential candidates and select the award winners. All club members will have participated in the fund raising for this project. These scholarships are being awarded in honor of our recently deceased charter member and past president, Lui Merlino. Alan Havir, PDG, will be spearheading this project.

I'm so sorry for the inconvenience, but (though the "block" district grant has been approved) The Rotary Foundation has not yet released the funds. It's frustrating when things like this are out of our hands, but we hope to be sending money to the clubs very soon. Thanks for your patience.
