This grant proposal is our club's First priority for funding for 2021-2022. We have a separate, secondary district grant for which we are requesting funding, if it is available.
The village residents of Jinja, Uganda, created their only school in 2020. They have no toilet for students and staff. They are currently using buckets or the bush as a toilet.
Funds from this grant will be devoted to supplies and construction costs to build the first toilet and covering for students at this school. All children in the village as well as teachers will benefit from the construction of a toilet. Additionally, potential health risks that could be avoided with a proper toilet could benefit the entire village.
We have negotiated construction and supply costs and have received an invoice. Once funds are received, we will work with the Source of the Nile Rotary club to oversee the project completion within 6 months.
Additionally, The Rotary Club of Tempe Downtown has been working with the Source of the Nile Rotary Club to collect and send school supplies to the village for the students in the school.
