Substance Abuse Assistance

History Logs

Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Staten Island

Total Budget: $5,000

Area of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment

Activity Type: Health: Disease

Summary: Financial aid to help an addict recover at Villa Veritas, located in Kerhonkson, NY

Villa Veritas employs an effective 12 Step Recovery Program to treat alcohol and substance abuse conditions. The facility is located in the Catskills.

The program addresses the three-fold disease, namely, the spiritual, physical, and mental aspects of the patient. Villa uses the most current medical, psychological, holistic and spiritual approaches to treat the disease.

Many addicted individuals do not have the health insurance to cover the costs for treatment. Therefore the South Shore Rotary requests District 7230 to grant this District Grant request for a matching $2500 grant. The funds will be applied to an individual(s) who lack the financial resources for treatment.

South Shore Rotary will establish a review committee of four of its members to review applications for payment. The reviews will be 'blind reviews', i.e., without knowing the applicant or where they live.

A typical treatment lasts 30 days.
