Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Marshall MN

Total Budget: $15,000

Area of Focus: Community economic development

Activity Type: Community Development: Construction/Renovation

Summary: To provide funding for the centerpiece statue at the new Veteran's Memorial Park in Marshall MN

The Sunrise Rotary and Noon Rotary Clubs of Marshall will be working jointly on the final phase of Memorial Park's Honor Wall. The two clubs have had an ongoing commitment towards Memorial Park since its inception. Memorial Park is located in downtown Marshall and is in the final stage of development. Memorial Park began with a 9-11 Memorial as a tribute to all those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. A piece of the World Trade Center stands in the center of the park and is a reminder of the strength and fortitude of our nation. When the park was created, the Rotary club of Marshall donated a beautiful clock and it is located in the archway at the entrance of the park. The Rotary Club is raising funds to help build an Honor Wall of past veterans to complete the Veteran's Memorial section of the park. The sixty foot Honor Wall will overlook the Redwood River that runs through the park. The Honor Wall will list all local military personnel who lost their lives in battle. The Veteran's Memorial section of the park will complete the vision of architect Gene Ernst. The Veteran's Memorial will honor the five branches of the military. In addition, the centerpiece will be an artists rendition of the Wounded Warrior to pay tribute to all soldiers, whose bravery in times of crisis must never be forgotten. The Rotary club will be involved with funding a portion of the Honor Wall, as well laying the bricks that will surround the Honor Wall.
