To provide backpacks and required school supplies to approximately 50 students, grades 1 through 12, residing in an at-risk neighborhood of Placentia, known as Lot 318, by 9/1/2020 (the start of the school year).
Lot 318 provides service to at-risk youth, seeking to provide programs and opportunities to the youth and the community in which they reside. Lot 318 seeks to draw the youth away from gang activities, empowering them to see their worth and purpose in this world, challenging them to serve others and to make a difference among their peers. The motto of Lot 318 is "Invest in a Child, Change a Generation, Gain Trust, Build a Community."
Education is a primary means of achieving these goals. Having the tools and supplies to fully participate in the learning environment is critical to learning and to a positive self-image, without which a child may feel outcast or discouraged.
Approximatey 20 Members of the club will assist in acquiring the various school supplies, fill the backpacks with grade-level appropriate supplies, and distribute to each child. Excess supplies will be provided to Lot 318 storage and distribution for later in the school year as needed.
