Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Elmore County

Total Budget: $1,366

Areas of Focus: Water, sanitation and hygiene, Maternal and child health, Basic education and literacy

Activity Type: Health: General

Summary: Personal hygiene kits for students in Elmore County schools as need is identified by teachers/school staff.

Hygiene kits for students within our school systems. Providing basic hygiene essentials, such as tooth care, chapstick, deodorant, shampoos and soaps, basic hair needs. It has come to our attention that some of our students have never used a washcloth. We have members that have crocheted up to 400 washcloths a year. We would love to be able to furnish these students with bath size towels. We are trying to make the bags age appropriate to include shaving supplies and feminine hygiene products for our older students.

This is an annual event for our club. All bags will be distributed by the end of 2020. Each club member is asked to donate towards this project. Club members come together with their donations to fill and distribute the bags.

The grant we are requesting will be used to provide towels and other hygiene items as needs are identified. As a result of feedback from teachers and staff there is a definite need for additional bags.

This project has grown each year since we began and we would like to continue to meet the needs of our growing community. We wish to encourage positive self esteem in the students, to enable them to focus on their education and to feel better about themselves.

District criteria for Rotary Foundation district grants requires that someone other that the club president be the primary contact person (aka project manager) for the grant. You'll need to recruit someone else in your club and change the name in your application in order to proceed. On the administration side of the description tab, click "edit project page". Make the needed change and be sure to save your work. Thank you!

This is a reminder that you need to change the primary contact person in your application to someone other than the 2020-21 club president. If you're then satisfied with your application, the next step is to send it for signatures -- to the primary contact and incoming club president only. Do this on the administration side of the description tab. Applications must be signed by June 1, 2020 for projects to be considered "submitted" and to be eligible for project funding. Thank you!

Please try to complete your project and submit your final report by May 15, 2021. The report form can be found on the administration side of the description tab. Make sure your revenue matches your expenses to the penny and that you have uploaded receipts equaling the amount shown in the report. Once done, click "reported" on the description tab. Reports turned in after the deadline may affect your club's eligibility for a grant in 2021-22. If you haven't finished the project just do another progress report prior to the reporting deadline.
