Project Description

Country: USA

Location: San Diego

Total Budget: $500

Area of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment

Activity Type: Health: Disease

Summary: Providing N95 masks to frontline workers

Fernanda Torres is the Peace Chair of San Diego Coastal Rotary Club and lives in Tijuana, Mexico. She has identified people in TJ in dire need of face masks during this pandemic. These include policeman, fireman, food industry workers, healthcare workers, people living with HIV.

Addendum to Project Description (added after the project was signed)

Fernanda was able to obtain thousands of pieces of PPE with the $500 grant money. These include N95 masks, goggles, isolation suits, face shields and gloves. Photos have been included in the document section. She distributed them to health care workers in clinics and hospitals in Tijuana as shown in photos in documents section. As these items were in dire need in the beginning of the pandemic crisis, the workers were quite thankful.

This grant reverted back to paid. I believe this was because they felt there were insufficient receipts. When reviewing, one receipt was left off the information and is now included. The grant was for $500. Around 13000 pesos were spent. This converts to about $640 dollars at the time the equipment was purchased. Fernanda Torres added the extra money (approximately $140) to pay for the equipment. She describes the transaction as chaotic because so many people were vying for the same materials. The receipts were written hastily. Please let us know if this new information is sufficient for the grant
