Visual impairments are one of the major public health problems in Sri Lanka. The prevalence of blindness in Sri Lanka is substantial among those aged above 40 years particularly from rural areas. Most common eye problems are cataract, conjunctivitis, glaucoma etc. Reasons for not seeking treatments are ignorance, financial reasons (expenditure for travel to access health care, expenditure on treatment of illness), lack of time, no one to accompany, unavailability of facilities in local area and also some patients do not know where to go. Therefore, we conduct eye screening camps in rural areas, provide them with spectacles and cataract surgery will also be provided as necessary.

Project Status
Dropped
This project has been "Dropped". Check the history log entries to see why it was dropped.
Note: as of July 1, 2015 there is a 5% additional support fee for cash contributions. This fee does not appear in the financials above because it does not apply if the funds are sent directly to the project account (without going through TRF, and therefore without Paul Harris credit). Clubs sending their cash contribution to TRF must be aware they will have to send an additional 5%.
