Project Description

Region: Asia

Country: Nepal

Location: Baglung

Total Budget: $38,461

Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy

Back ground of th project:

Rotary Club of Baglung has given priority on community services such as supporting local community for increasing access to Education, Health, Water & Sanitation and Livelihood development of the rural community people over the past years. According to service delivery approach, Rotary Club of Baglung is seeking to support needy school children studying in different schools of Baglung district.

This school was built with public initiations and operational partially by the people from Baglung district. The proposed project is aligned in line of The Constitution of Nepal 2015 (Every citizen shall have the right of access to basic education and ensuring clean and safe drinking water supply). The project is supporting Nepal's Fifteen Five Year Plan (FY2019/20-FY2023/24) aims- education for all.

This also supports the SDG Goal 4 (" Quality education") and similarly, the project has sought to align with the goalof Rotary International (unite for good), district 3292 and Rotary Club of Baglung. Rotary Club of Baglung, a dedicated organization committed to transforming lives through education, is proud to present a project aimed at providing various materials as an educational support to 2500 underprivileged children in at least 10 schools of 10 Rural municipality and Municipality in Baglung.

Our target is to empower these children with the shoes, school bags, stationaries etc, ensuring they have equal opportunities to thrive and build a brighter future through quality education. By contributing, we can make a lasting impact on the lives of these deserving children.

In collaboration with the donors/ School Management Committee of the school, the Shoes on the foot has undertaken a dedicated effort to support the educational needs of 201 deserving children. This joint initiative involved a community outreach program of Rotary Club aimed at identifying school-age children who, unfortunately, face financial challenges for such materials (shoes, bags, pen, notebook etc.) that prevent them from learning at school. Through this compassionate endeavor, we have successfully identified these 201 children who are in urgent need of educational support in Baglung.

Real problems felt by the participants and justification of the project:

The schools of Baglung areas are, on the one hand, facing the problem of lacking of the furniture, books and computers for proper functioning of the library. On the other hand, the students have facing difficulties due to lack of proper dress, shoes, note books, pens etc. which is caused by the poor economic condition of the parents. The School has no source to arrange the materials so that these needy children can learn in conducive environment.

To create favorable condition for the students to learn, we have proposed to distribute the shoes, note books, pens, school bags etc.

Purpose of the project:

The goal of the project is to ensure that each child receives the necessary support to excel academically and experience personal growth. The specific objectives are as follows:

i) To distribute shoes/ socks for better travel from home to school

ii) To distribute note books/pencils/cutters/erasers etc. for quality education

iii) To distribute school bags for safety of books and other learning materials

Second, we assess through telephone conversation with SMC chair and Headmaster of the school. Third, we visited the school and observed whether the proposed need is realistic or not.
